Beetle, the iconic car of the Europe’s largest car maker Volkswagen, is likely to hit roads in a new generation version soon. The all new Volkswagen Beetle 2012 was recently showcased at the Shanghai Auto Expo. The car is speculated to be launched in two new variants in the including Beetle R and a Drop-Top Beetle. Both of the models are expected to be rolled-out in the US market in coming months.
The new Beetle R has been appreciated for its exciting looks and dynamic road presence. The car is expected to come powered by the Golf R 2.0 liter engine which is capable of delivering a peak power of 270 hp along with a peak torque of 258 lb/ft. Moreover, the car is expected to carry a front wheel drive.
In addition to this, the new Beetle R is expected to come blessed with finer changes to the chassis and engine. However, the company is yet to disclose the specifications and the timeline of the launch in the Indian market.
The car is also rumored to be released in one more variant – the Drop Top Beetle – which is expected to share the same chassis as the Beetle R. The car is expected to hit the market by somewhere around the fall of year 2012.
