The India unit of leading German car maker Volkswagen today inaugurated a new authorized dealership in Mumbai (west). The new dealership will be selling all India portfolio cars of Volkswagen including the recently launched Volkswagen Vento. It is the fifth authorized dealership of Volkswagen in Mumbai. The new outlet has a showroom space for four cars and hosts a state-of-art workshop with 22 bays that comprises of bays for accidental repairs and body paint.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board, Director of Volkswagen Passenger cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd, said that the company is proud to expand Volkswagen network. To ensure their strong position and presence in the domestic market, Volkswagen will make sure that they invest the resources efficiently, supply its products and boost their local sales network in the country, he added.
Currently, the company has 61 sales outlets in the Indian market comprising dealerships in all major cities. More over, Volkswagen India plans to expend its sales network to more than 100 dealerships in coming years.
In last one year, Volkswagen has become one of the fastest growing car makers in the Indian market. The company that was limited to the premium car segment in India until a year ago, has now become a major player in the volume driven mass segment, thanks to impressive performance of Volkswagen Polo hatchback and Vento sedan. Both of these models are enjoying a waiting period of up to 3 months in the country and the company has already sold over 22,430 units of these models, here.
In the period of Jan-Nov 2010, the company has posted a whooping growth of over 900 percent to 26,855 units, as compared to mere 2638 units sold in the same period last year.
