January 22nd is the big day when Tata Motors has decided to launch the much awaited hatchback named Bolt in the country. Last year, when Tata Motors launched its Zest sedan, it was faced with issue like long waiting periods. But, this time around the company claims that it has adequately stocked dealership outlets with sufficient units of the Bolt hatchback, which indeed means that the customers need not wait longer to get their vehicles delivered post its launch.

Speaking more on the occasion, Mayank Pareek, president of the passenger vehicles business unit at Tata Motors, said, “We did a lot of pre-launch activities for the last few weeks and have got almost 30,000 customers who have registered to know more about the Bolt (registrations are treated as inquiries that have a greater chance of converting to sales). Consequently, we have stocked dealerships to take care of two to three weeks of sales.”

The upcoming Bolt hatchback from Tata Motors is said to be based on the same platform as the Zest sedan. Based on the HORIZONEXT philosophy, the Bolt hatchback is expected to fair well in the domestic market. The company has not revealed as to what it expects from dealers in terms of sales numbers, neither has it hinted on the exact number of vehicles stocked up at the dealership outlets. The company also claims to have ramped up the production for Zest and has reduced the waiting period from six months to about three-four months. Pareek further stated, “Typically, the demand for the AMT version in India is 5% of its overall volumes. We planned for 20%, but the eventual demand for the AMT version of the Zest came in at 40%.”
