First of its sorts, the claims of launching a flying car has been put forward by Terrafugia Corporation, a privately held American corporation, which majors in developing roadable aircraft. The cost of this airborne transportation project, Transition, was estimated to be approximately $800 billion per year by the CAFE Foundation, which was counter-claimed to be worth $1 trillion project annually by NASA, states Terrafugia's CEO, Carl Dietrich. It has been reported that the flying car will envelope all the necessary features to make the driving experience extraordinary. This yet to be launched Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA) is expected to have foldable wings, enabling the vehicle to be operated on roads as well. It will come equipped with a number of advancements like 500-mile battery, autopilot mode and even an automatic landing function, in case the vehicle runs out of battery.

From the initial days when the motorised wagon like Ford Model T was launched, the market has now evolved to the latest engineering wonders, such as Rolls Royce and Bentley. Since the time first car was launched in the global market, the automobile industry has undergone many changes. And it is even expected to go through a complete metamorphosis, with the launch of this world's first flying car. Critics are assuming that this so-called car is going to be synonymous to an air plane rather than a terrestrial vehicle. Industry experts are of a view that the new vehicle will bear resemblance somewhat to a private jet, as against to a regular production car.
