Toyota Motors, the Japan based leading automobile manufacturer, has recalled over 5,50,000 vehicles worldwide due to a possible problem with the crankshaft pulling on engine. The majority of these vehicles have been recalled from the US market.

The recall includes 283,200 Toyota brand cars and 137,000 Lexus brand cars in the US market alone. These cars include Camry, Highlander and Sienna models manufactured during year 2004 to 2005. Moreover, it includes 38,000 cars recalled in Japan, 25,000 in Australia and New Zealand.

As per a statement issued by the US based unit of Toyota Motors on Wednesday, if the problem isn't corrected, there is a possibility the belt for the power steering pump may get detached from the pulley.

According to company, there have been no reports of any accidents or injuries related to this problem in crankshaft pulling.

However, the recall will not be affecting the company’s portfolio in the Indian market as it does not include any car sold in the Indian market.
