The new Prius is based on Toyota's new TNGA platform which is said to be lighter and yet stiffer than the old Prius. The brand is claiming a 10 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency. As for the dimensions, the new Prius is 60mm longer, 15mm wider and 20mm lower than the old model. The drivetrain comprises of a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that has been paired to an electric motor. While the fuel efficiency has gone up by 18 per cent, the thermal efficiency has also been improved by 40 per cent. The Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive technology is one of the key attributes towards the increase in the fuel efficiency.

The Prius comes three driving modes, Eco, Power and Normal. This hybrid sedan comes with regenerative braking system that makes it a lot more efficient and Toyota has ensured that maximum utilisation of the energy produced is made. The Toyota Prius comes with six airbags and it even gets VSC, traction control, ABs with EBD and brake assist. The Toyota Prius comes with wireless charger also. This makes it a lot more valuable. The front seats are electrical adjustable with driver’s one being easily adjustable in six ways and the passengers in four ways.

Being a hybrid, the Prius looks rather unique when compared to conventional petrol or diesel powered cars sold in India. On the outside, it has daytime running LEDs that makes it look stylish and the modern. The design has become a lot more aggressive than before. This is despite the fact that the company has retained the same design language like the previous generation. The evolution makes the new Prius look young and fresh. The older generation Prius were rather dull and boring in their styling. This is a lot more younger appealing even to the youth, with a message that green is cool.

On the inside as well this Toyota looks different with its swooping dashboard design and the unique looking electronic gear stick. As for equipment on board, the new Prius features a head-up display which projects various driving information, a touch screen display, climate control and lots more. What you will find a lot on the inside is space for occupants and even the stowage space. Toyota has ensured maximum efficiency when it comes to space. The boot too is large enough on the Prius and this adds on more value to it.

Although Toyota has only unveiled the Prius for now, the brand will indeed launch this environmentally-friendly model to India later this year.
