The most successful Hybrid car in the world could very well be coming to India. Toyotas Senior Managing Director, Akira Okabe has indicated that the Prius could be one of the new cars that the Japanese giant brings into India.
The car has sold over a million units worldwide and has registered particularly strong sales in the United States, the largest consumer market in the world. The U.S. accounted for nearly 40% of the worldwide sale of the car last year. Pricing would, however, be a concern should the Prius entry into India go from a possibility to reality considering the car is sold at a sticker price of US$20,000, or nearly Rs 8-lakh.
