A new low priced car model shall be soon available from Toyota for its consumers in Russia, India and Brazil. The model is in its final stages and shall be hitting the Indian roads soon. However, it shall not be competing with Tata Nano in the ultra-cheap car segment.
According to the Katusaki Watanabe, President, Toyota Motors, the company shall be soon launching a small car for India without compromising on Toyota standards. “The vehicle is close to getting a ‘go sign’, without disclosing the further details on when the car will be launched commercially and what would be the cost,” he said.
Toyota may also be coming up with its second manufacturing unit in Bangalore. It already has a manufacturing unit in Hoser with an annual capacity of 60,000 units. It shall be investing Rs. 1400 crores to bring up a new manufacturing unit with a capacity of one lac units annually.
