Toyota FT-86 is set to debut at the Tokyo Auto Show on 21st October 2009. More images have been revealed on the Toyota fan sites and auto enthusiasts and auto critics around the world are awaiting the car eagerly. The FT-86 concept was designed by the automaker's ED2 styling studio in France and bears a remarkable resemblance to the FT-HS concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show several years back.

Toyota has not revealed any official technical information about the new model but it is expected to be powered by Subaru-derived 2.0-liter boxer four sending power to the rear wheels. The overall dimensions of Toyota's new 2+2 are 163.78 inches long and 69.29 inches wide, with a wheelbase of 101.18 inches. The model being showcased at the Tokyo Auto Show will be the concept model and the production model will be revealed sometime during next year. The FT-86 Concept is a joint development project with Subaru but eventually both companies will have their own variants.

According to Toyota's President Akio Toyoda, the automaker is in desperate need of an excitement injection and the new FT-86 surely seems like a first dose of adrenaline with its different and stylish new red colour.
