Toyota Motors is among the world’s leading companies in terms of production of hybrid cars. The Japanese firm already has the Prius available on sale in the Indian car market, where it operates through its arm called Toyota Kirloskar Motor. If reports are to be believed, then the company is set to launch the Toyota Camry Hybrid in India really soon. Notably, the Prius has not been able to perform according to the level of expectations of the manufacturer. However, it is being said that Toyota has put in a lot of thought into the launch of Camry Hybrid in India to make sure it appeals to consumers. Reports have claimed that the new Camry Hybrid is a complete package that offers a lot to Indian buyers.

A spacious car with a number of features, the Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with a few changes to the exterior, which distinguish it from the regular model. The bumper of this hybrid car has been completely redesigned with a wide air dam. Along with this, the presences of new fog lamps with chrome inserts make the car look a bit more stylish. Toyota has made minute modifications to the 2AR FXE DOHC VVT-I 2.5-litre powertrain in order to accommodate the electrical unit. The electric motor present in the Toyota Camry Hybrid is quite similar to the one present in the Prius with the latter being slightly less powerful. Toyota Camry Hybrid is expected to produce a total maximum output of around 202 bhp, which comprises 158 bhp and 44 bhp from the petrol and electric units, respectively.

Toyota has made a dedicated effort to add a number of features to the cabin of the Camry Hybrid to provide comfort to rear passengers. Some of the highlights of this hybrid car include the three zone climate control system, cruise control and cooling function in the front seats. Apart from these, rear seats of the Toyota Camry Hybrid are powered, thereby allowing passengers to recline them by up to eight degrees.

Although the price of the Camry Hybrid has not been decided yet, experts feel that the car is likely to cost in the range of Rs. 28 lakh (ex-showroom). Analysts are of the opinion that by launching the Camry Hybrid, Toyota might be taking a risk, given the kind of condition of the Indian car market. In addition, the concept of hybrid vehicles has not caught up that well in the India as most people do not have the knowledge. Also, the price of the Toyota Camry Hybrid might make customers reluctant to purchase. However, sources claim that Toyota is quite positive about the response it expects to receive from buyers in India.
