Mahindra owned Ssanyong’s compact SUV, the Tivoli, is enjoying good demand in the European markets. Given the Tivoli’s size, positioning and the fact that it is built on a new platform, which can be produced cost effectively in India as well, the SUV will make it our shores too.

Ssanyong’s aim with the Tivoli was to sell 60,000 units by the end of this year and the sales numbers have already exceeded 40,000 units. This success is being attributed to the Tivoli’s design, size, price and build quality. The good turnaround in sales is good news for Mahindra as well given the Tivoli is a new milestone in the growing partnership between Mahindra and Ssangyong. In fact, the parent company believes that Ssangyong can globally be a good flag bearer for the Mahindra Group in the future.

The Tivoli is offered in petrol as well as diesel options. While the 1.6-litre petrol mill produces 125bhp of power and 157Nm of torque, the 1.6-litre diesel unit churns out 113bhp and 300Nm, almost double the petrol trim's torque. The power is sent to the front wheels and the transmission options include a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
