Ford has started to aggressively promote itself in India. The much-vaunted Ford Fiesta was launched in 2005 and the company has been marketing for the model ever since then. However, it seems that much has been happening recently as Ford is aggressively promoting the new Ford Fiesta in India. Its recent advertisement of the new Ford Fiesta 1.6S states “Ford Leaves the City Behind” with a car passing by the city roads on to the outskirts. The play on words is subtle but has a profound effect as Ford takes its competition head on with Honda City.
The model was initially launched amidst much fanfare and anticipation. In line with the company’s expectations, Ford Fiesta has been one of the most successful Ford models in the company’s Indian product portfolio. The new Ford sedan was in news for a long time being the global car especially for the developing markets. It was pitted against its contemporary rivals like the Honda City, the Hyundai Accent, the Maruti Baleno and Esteem and the Chevrolet Optra. The initial launch was much hyped with Bollywood star Abhishek Bacchan to “Go Fida” over the model.
The new Ford Fiesta 1.6S launched in India has now emerged as the ‘segment-winner’ with competitors having to spruce up their act. The model has lived up to its expectations with various car magazines and critics voting unanimously for the car.
