The Chief Dark Horse has given the shiny chrome a miss, which is a characteristic trait for most Chief models. The new model comes with a matte black paint scheme with a standard ‘Chief’ logo on the fuel tank. The all black theme had faced a break in the continuity at a number of places because of chrome accents, which are present for adding to the cruiser bike’s appeal. The bike has been provided with a dual-exhaust system, which works on cancelling out the high-pitched sounds and gives instead a thunderous growl.

The Chief Dark Horse is based on the same Indian Chief platform and runs on an 1811 cc Thunder Stroke mill. The air-cooled engine is capable of producing a torque of 139 Nm of torque and is connected to a six-speed transmission. A major part of the Dark Horse’s attraction and the new bike comes with a range of accessories like cast wheels, passenger seat, blacked-out ape hangers, air cleaners, fender trim, exhaust and approximately 40 other options. The Chief Dark Horse is tagged at 10.55 lakhs INR and is expected to hit the US markets by the 2015 spring.
