      The all new 2013 Toyota Vios to bridge the gap between Etios and Corolla

      The much awaited Toyota Vios, which is a complete package of elegance, safety and comfort is likely to make its debut in the country in 2013. The subcompact sedan with four doors was first introduced way back in 2002 in Thailand and was placed between Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry and has since then been a successful car. Similarly, likely to be launched in the country soon, the all new Vios would be placed between Etios and Corolla. However, the one thought that immediately comes to mind is if it would be able to bridge the gap between the Etios and the Corolla.

      The Toyota Corolla Altis model is an attractive car with a large number of luxury features. Apart from this the car has a good fuel economy of 9.5 kmpl, which has resulted in huge success of the Corolla model. Among the most desirable cars of the Indian people, the Corolla Altis, boasts of superior performance and appealing looks apart from great comfort features, which has made this mid-size sedan so popular. The Corolla is powered by 1798 cc, 4 cylinder, 16 Valve, DOHC with VVT-i engine capable of churning out a power as high as 138 bhp at 6400 rpm and a maximum torque of 4000 Nm. The engine power is further increased by Dual Variable Valve Timing – intelligent (VVT-i). The Corolla comes with a price tag between Rs. 11 lacs and Rs. 15.43 lacs.

      The Etios sedan, which is one of the most innovative creation of Toyota, has been built with the combined effort of 2,000 engineers, who have made it stylish and compact, without compromising with the comfort level of the car. Its interiors, exterior, power and performance are all very impressive; thus making the Etios a popular compact sedan among masses, especially the youth. The Toyota Etios sedan houses a 1.5 litre petrol engine capable of delivering a maximum power of 88.77 bhp at 5600 rpm and a maximum torque of 132 Nm at 3,000 rpm. The engine of the Etios comes mated to a five speed manual gearbox with smooth gear shifts. The Toyota Etios is a highly fuel economical car, delivering a mileage of 17.6 kmpl on the highway and 12 kmpl on the city roads. The Etios comes with a price tag between Rs. 5.14 lacs and Rs. 8.31 lacs.

      Indians have always felt that a car should be introduced by Toyota between its these two models. Therefore, it looks that the all new Vios will likely bridge the gap between these two models. The all new Vios would come powered by a 4 cylinder DOHC with VVT-i engine, capable of churning out a peak power of 107 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The engine would come mated to a 4 speed automatic gearbox. The all new Vios would provide a decent fuel economy and superior performance. The car is expected to be priced around Rs. 13 lacs. All these parameters clearly indicate that the all new 2013 Toyota Vios would be placed between Corolla and Etios.
