Tesla Motors in the US had earlier shaken hands with Japanese car maker Toyota to jointly produce electric cars. The company will now produce two electric cars by the end of the month. “Since our announcement in May, Toyota and Tesla engineering teams have made a lot of progress in a short amount of time and it is exciting to start seeing some initial results,” Tesla Chief Technology Officer JB Straubel said. “The prototypes will combine Toyota vehicles with Tesla electric powertrains,” he added.

According to the official statement from Akido Toyoda, Toyota Chief, the company is ready to experiment with the new Lithium ion batteries from Tesla developed for the electronics industry as a potential alternative to developing batteries tailor-made for its own vehicles.

Tesla Motors is the auto manufacturer from the Silicon Valley in the US that wants to make electric cars more acceptable to the general people. Their flagship product is the Roadster, an elegantly designed electric sports car. They also have plans of releasing a more traditional electric sedan soon.
