Post much wait, the Tata Tiago hatchback has finally launched in India for Rs 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The vehicle carries modern age styling and advanced technological upgrades to attract the young car buyers. It competes against the likes of Maruti Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Chevrolet Beat.
Tata Tiago is offered in petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version gets a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine that generates 84bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. The diesel on the other hand gets 1.05-litre three-cylinder engine that generates 67bhp of power and 139Nm of torque. For now, both the engines come mated to five speed manual transmission, while AMT will be introduced down the line.
Based on the DesigNEXT strategy, the vehicle gets a refreshing new look with no styling cues brought forward from older conventionally designed siblings. The bug shaped headlamps blend neatly with the wide gloss black finished grille. The hatchback gets a young appeal as it features redesigned bumpers, wraparound tail lamps and a rear spoiler.
Inside, apart from the HVAC unit, the Tata Tiago gets infotainment system with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and the three-spoke steering wheel gets audio and telephony controls. The Indian automaker has also offered the new juke app that allows users to pair one main phone and multiple others through it. Using smartphone, users will also get turn-by-turn navigation function.
