Tata has been in the limelight for testing its new AMT-featured Nano Twist model for quite some time. The web world has been replete with sneak peeks and spy shots. It is now evident that the launch of the new car is just around the corner. The new Nano Twist Active AMT has been badged as Nano Twist F-Tronic and it was first showcased at the 2014 New Delhi Auto Expo. Industry experts believe that this Nano XTA model will be the top-range version in the respective line-up.
The Nano four-speed manual transmission has been modified to a five-speed automatic gearbox. An extra ratio has been provided and the AMT unit is sourced from Magneti Marelli. With this development, the weight of the car has increased by around 70 to 80 kilograms, thereby affecting its fuel efficiency by a margin. However, the fuel tank capacity has been increased to 25 litres, which is expected to make a positive impact on the sales.
As far as other cosmetic changes are concerned, the front and rear bumpers have been restyled and the rear fog lamps have been swept away below the tailgate. The exhaust tip has been hidden below the bumper and the front fascia gets smoked headlights. The prices have not been declared as of yet, but it is set to become the cheapest automatic car on sale in the country. High expectations lie with auto-enthusiasts on the car being launched soon in the Indian market.
