      Tata Motors records downfall in sales by 3 percent in June this year

      Amidst slump growth rate in the Indian auto sector, the Indian multinational automaker Tata Motors has revealed that the monthly sales report for June showcases sale of 64,341 units marking a decline in the in the overall volume by 3 percent as compared to the sales recorded in the corresponding month last year.

      The sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market in the relevant month stood at 41,026 units recording a growth of 4 percent stepping from 39,272 units sold in June 2011. This mediocre growth witnessed a pertinent contribution from the sales of light commercial vehicle by 22 percent followed by a negative impact from the declining sales of medium and heavy vehicles.

      Moreover, the sales in the mass market passenger segment totalled at 17,244 units dipping by 22 percent in comparison to the sales of 21,994 units reported in the relevant month in 2011. The sales of Tata Indicahatchback range plunged down considerably from 8,188 units sold in June 2011 to 5,332 units sold in June this year. Even its compact car, Indigo declined by a major 46 percent from 4,882 units recorded in last June to 2,658 units sold in the last month.

      Diverging from this list of declining sales figures stands the marginal 3 percent growth recorded by Tata Nanowith a sales rising from 5,452 units last year to 5,605 units this June. Amongst the sturdy and muscular range stable, Safari, Aria, Sumo and Venture range tallied a sale of 3,649 units in June this year disclosing an increase by 5 percent as compared to last June.
