      Tata Motors opens new assemble plant in South African market

      Tata Motors, the largest vehicle maker in the Indian auto market, has unveiled a new assembly plant in Rosslyn (in Gauteng province of South Africa). The new plant will be rolling-out a range of heavy commercial vehicles with a capacity of 4 to 50 tonnes.
       
      As per the company, the new plant has been established with an investment of $16.23 million (R110 million) and will be having an annual capacity of 3,650 vehicles. Initially, the company will be assembling two of its popular models at this plant including Tata LPT 813 and Tata LPT 1518.
       
      Speaking to the reporters on the launch of new assembly plant, chief executive and managing director, Tata Motors, Carl-Peter Forster said, "With a comprehensive product portfolio, Tata Motors is now at a stage where it can consolidate its international business in its chosen markets. Step by step, we shall expand the footprint of our international business matching markets and products."
       
      The exports of Tata commercial vehicles to South African market started way back in year 1998. And so far the company has exported over 32,000 commercial vehicles and 31,000 passenger vehicles in this market.
