Tata Motors took over two of the world’s most prestigious brands – Jaguar and Land Rover in 2008. Following the economic conditions thereafter and looking at company’s profitability, Tata Motors had decided to close three of its plants in the UK. Now after the change in economic scenario and with aid of British government, company is reviewing its plans to not to shut down one of the three plants.

There has been recent revival in sales in the UK market and there is a new management team as well. Tatas have hired CarlPeter Forster, a former boss of General Motors in Europe, and Ralf Speth, previously a BMW executive, to manage JLR operations. The new team has led to a review of the closure plan.

"Its plant at Halewood on Mersyside was safe, with the axe to fall on one of the Midlands sites, Castle Bromwich or Solihull. An announcement to close the plant was expected this summer," said sources close to development.
