Tata Motors is reported to be actively looking for new sites for its Nano project. Operations at the Tata Motors' plant in West Bengal have been completely suspended as the protestors refuse to give up their demand. Operations have come to a grinding halt since past three weeks at its Singur plant due to fresh and timely protests again and again.

On the other hand, officials from various states have offered land for Nano project and have tried to woo Tata Motors to shift their operations to their state. Chief Minister of Karnataka offered 1000 acres of land to Tata Motors on Thursday. Managing Director of Tata Motors, Ravi Kant, is supposed to be in talks with Chief Minister of Karnataka about company's Nano project.

The company spokesperson commented on offer from Chief Minister of Karnataka stating, "We are obviously happy," but said that no decision has been taken as yet regarding abandoning of nearly complete Tata Motors plant specifically set up for Nano project. He also stated that 13 other states from India have offered land to the company but shifting the plant to any other location will delayed the mass roll out for months. However, any talks with the protestors have so far failed making its extremely difficult for Tata to launch Nano during the Diwali festival time.
