Tata Motors once led the SUV segment in India when it had first offered its brand new Tata Safari. It gave Indian customers a taste of owning their first SUV. Later, with a more assertive strategy, Mahindra surpassed Tata Motors to become the segment leader. However, Tata Motors has once again started strenghtening its presence with the launch of new Tata Aria and refreshed Tata Safari.

Tata Aria is newly defined luxury in the segment which strongly competes with its contemporary models either from Toyota or Mahindra. Tata Safari has not only been upgraded but is also attracting attention of Indian buyers owing to its competitive pricing. A new ‘Tata Safari 18’ is also on cards which is expected to hit Indian market by January-February next year. It is expected to be priced between Rs. 8.5 lakh to Rs. 12.5 lakh and will be placed between existing Safari model and Tata Aria.

Tata Motors is also working on the new Tata Sumo Victa positioned as a family SUV. It competes with Mahindra Bolero but the existing model fails to give a tough fight. The new Sumo Victa will have new interiors and may have a more refined DICOR engine.

With all its initiatives, Tata Motors is planning to double its SUV sales in next one year to 70,000 units including exports.
