India’s top car makers, Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki, along with Hyundai Motors are hunting for talent in the US Motown – Detroit. There are hundreds of engineers laid off by Chrysler, Ford and General Motors. Both the car companies are hunting for talent in the US by advertising in leading auto magazines. Maruti is coming up with its world class research and development facility at Gurgaon, New Delhi. It currently intends to increases its strength of engineers by hiring at least 500 engineers and 200 technicians in the current financial year. It also plans to hire 500 personnel in managerial capacity.

According to various manpower consultants, there is a vast shortage of talented and skilled manpower in India. They are also expecting a dramatic turnaround in manpower recruitment by auto companies in India. Hyundai has already recruited some 1200 shopfloor workers this year.
