The ongoing standoff at Maruti’s Manesar plant is showing no signs of peace between management and workers, as the talks between both segments remained inconclusive on Wednesday. This was the third time in last one week when representatives of workers and company management held unfruitful negotiations.
However, the union workers at the Manesar plant of Indian auto giant Maruti have maintained that they are still in talks with the company management, and hope to resolve the crisis soon. According to a statement given by Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union (MUKU) general secretary Kuldeep, "We have had several rounds of talks, but the issue is struck on the reinstatement of all the 62 sacked workers. While Maruti has agreed to take back 18 trainee workers and may convert the status of some dismissed workers to suspension, we are expecting some positive outcome from the negotiations."
Hoping for a positive result soon, Rajesh Kumar, general secretary of Suzuki Power-train India Employees Union, said, "We would decide our course of action in a day or two as we are still hopeful of some positive outcome from the current round of negotiations." He, however, added that the workers will be on a flash protest standoff which would continue a few more days.
The Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant strike is now about a month old as the workers went on a strike on 29th August, after company forced them to sign a good conduct bond before entering the plant.
