Expressing his views on the sales performance, the President (Automotive and Farm Equipment Sector) at Mahindra & Mahindra, Pawan Goenka was quoted as saying, “We are delighted with the steady progress being made by SsangYong. The trend towards weekend leisure travel in Korea is helping drive up our SUV volumes in that market.”

It must be noted that the auto maker is expecting to report regular increase in its sales as the auto maker has resumed the second shift production at its Korean manufacturing unit during mid-May. Industry experts are of a view that this strategy helped the auto maker in reducing the back orders for its models. Although the Korean auto market witnessed a slowdown, SsangYong Motor reported a growth for the fifth straight month during May 2013 in the region, owing to strong demand for its new models, including the Korando series. A sharp growth of 28.4 per cent was recorded by the company in the Korean market against the sales of year-ago growth.

The exports of Korean auto maker also registered a growth of 23.1 per cent during May 2013, under the review of shipments made in the same month of last year. For this, auto analysts believe that the auto markets of Chile and other South as well as Central American countries reported a upward swing. Along with, in order to garner the attention of masses, the auto maker has now planned to operate a number of programs for its potential customers.
