      In the festive season that has passed, numerous vehicles were launched in India, out of which many were highly anticipated. Major car makers like Nissan, Skoda, Toyota and Volkswagen introduced latest offerings in the festive season so as to take increase sales. Out of all launches, here is a list of the best car models that hit the Indian car market during the festive season.

      Nissan Terrano

      Amid much hype and speculation, Japanese car maker, Nissan introduced its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), Terrano in India. Manufactured on the same platform of Duster, Nissan Terrano was although a re-badged version but it had undergone numerous changes in its styling, making it appear completely distinct than its Renault sibling. Available in petrol and diesel fuel options, Terrano boasts of a powerful engine that gives away superlative performance. The car is offered in two engine options that are 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.6-litre MPFI engine displaces 1598 cc and gives away 102 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque. While the other, 1.5-litre K9K DCi engine has a displacement of 1461 cc and is offered in differently tuned power outputs of 83 bhp and 108 bhp. As part and parcel of Renault-Nissan alliance, Terrano has been priced significantly higher than Duster at Rs. 9.60 lakh for the base variant. At present, the car is faring quite well in the Indian car market and is expected to further improve up on its performance in near future.

      Volkswagen Vento GT TSI

      Volkswagen was among the major car makers in India that launched its vehicle in festive season. Following closely on the launch of Polo GT TSI, the company introduced the Vento TSI in the country at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 9.99 lakh in Delhi. In the TSI version of Vento, Volkswagen retained the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that produced maximum power of 103 bhp. The addition in mechanical configuration was of seven-speed dual-shift gearbox, which ensured better fuel efficiency. Styling changes made to the Vento TSI were minimal as the company gave away GT badging to differentiate it from other Vento variants.

      Skoda Octavia

      It was highly expected that the Czech car maker, Skoda, would be re-introducing the flagship Octavia sedan in India. The car finally made roads in the country in October 2013 and since then, it has been garnering the attention of many car buyers. Octavia is available in three engine options out of which two are petrol and one is diesel. The petrol variants comprise 1.4-litre TSI and 1.8-litre TSI engine options while the diesel variant is available in an option of 2.0-litre TDI CR option. Slotted in the executive sedan segment, Skoda Octavia carries a price tag of Rs. 13.95 lakh for the introductory trim whereas the top-spec one is available at Rs. 18.96 lakh.
