Ford is set to roll out its small car in 2010. The company is planning to invest $500 million in its small car project and is weighing options to launch both petrol and diesel versions of its small car in India. Ford has been experiencing a decline in sales since past six to eight months. It has geared up its sales operations to occupy a larger market share of the Indian auto market.

Ford has experienced a 22 percent decline in its sales in the last financial year where it marks a strong presence. It experienced a decline when the market segment grew by 12 percent to around 1.5 million units. Small car sales in India occupy about two-third of the auto market, thus the company is planning to launch its small car in this segment. The car shall be engineered to suit the Indian road conditions and requirements of the Indian consumers.
