Skoda India is trying hard to revive its sales in the growing Indian car market. The company is refreshing its entire model lineup in the country. Czech car maker has already launched the all-new Octavia and Superb facelift; while the Skoda Yeti facelift, which unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo is all set to hit shores. If media reports are to be believed, the company is working on the facelift of Rapid sedan which is expected to be launched by the end of this year.

The updated Rapid will get Skoda’s new design language. The front fascia of the sedan will feature new headlamps, new bumper, grille and bonnet design. An interior of the sedan is also expected to get significant amount of changes. Skoda might also add some premium features to it, which make it a little pricier as well.

Mechanically the Skoda Rapid will remain unchanged. It will continue to be powered by the same 1.6-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engine that produces 105PS. Both engines will be coupled to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox which transmits power to the front wheels of the sedan. It is also speculated that the Rapid automatic will also be on offer. Just like Volkswagen Vento, the automatic Rapid will also get a new 1.2-litre turbocharged engine which is coupled to a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
