The Indian unit of the Czech Republic based premium car maker Skoda has launched its first ever C segment sedan – Skoda Rapid – in the Indian market. The Rapid model is launched in the price segment of 6.75 lakh and Rs 9.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), where it will be competing with the likes of Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Nissan Sunny, Ford Fiesta, Maruti SX4 and Fiat Linea. The company expects the Rapid to become its bestselling car in the Indian market, even surpassing the sales figures of premium hatchback Fabia. The company is aiming to sell 2,000 units of this carper month.
Speaking to the reporters in the National Capital at the occasion of the launch o this car, Skoda Auto India Marketing Head Tarun Jha said, "India is a very important market for us. There was a gap between our compact car Fabia and the sedan Laura. To fill that gap, we have launched the Rapid in the C segment."
The Rapid model is launched in both petrol and diesel versions, powered by 1.6 liter engine. The petrol version of the car is powered by a 1.6 liter MPI engine which delivers a maximum power of 105 hp with a top torque of 153Nm @ 3800rpm. On the other hand, the diesel version of the car carries 1.6 liter turbo diesel engine which outpours top power of 105 hp top torque of 250Nm between 1500-2500 rpm.
The all new Skoda Rapid is launched in 8 variants including 3 manual transmission petrol versions, two automatic transmission petrol versions and three manual transmission diesel versions. Below are the pricing figures of each variant of Skoda Rapid.
