The Czech car maker Skoda is mulling over the option of launching a mid-size sedan car in the Indian market by the end of the year 2011. The new mid-size Skoda car model will be taking on with the likes of Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, Fiat Linea and upcoming Ford Fiesta Global, and is scheduled to be displayed at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The new Skoda model will be developed on the platform of company’s parent Volkswagen’s Vento model which was launched in the country in the last, quarter last year.

In a recent statement, Mr. Thomas Kuehl, board member, sales and marketing, Skoda Auto India, said, "Our new entry-level limousine would offer the best value for money in the segment and we are looking at topping the category in sales and leaving everybody behind." He added that in the segments where the company is present, the Laura and Superb give better quality, design, drivability and equipment over competitors and Skoda’s new car would do the same in its segment.

According to Mr. Kuehl, India would be one of the first markets to get this car.
