Skoda Auto, the premium automobile manufacturer is geared up for the launch of it’s yet another luxury mid-sized sedan Skoda Lauretta. The Indian auto market would witness its official launch by the 7th of October this year.
Skoda India has mulled upon bringing out this latest creation before this festive season and will offer both diesel and petrol engine options, following the lines of other cars in the same segment, the all-new mid-sized saloon Skoda Lauretta is believed to be placed in the C-segment and will be backed by the same 1.6 litre petrol engine of that of the Volkswagen Vento. The diesel and petrol engines, both are capable of producing a maximum power of 104 bhp.
With this upcoming sedan, Skoda India is all set to once again grab immense popularity in India as the other Skoda models have done in the past. It is believed that the design of Skoda Lauretta is inspired by that of the Skoda Fabia and the very classy Volkswagen Vento. Lauretta is expected to possess certain reflections of the latest Skoda concept design revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
Petrol version would provide a displacement of 1598cc, 4 Cylinder, 8 Valve configuration and 153 Nm of torque. The diesel engine would also share the same displacement of 1598cc, 4 Cylinder and 8 Valves; however, the diesel version offers a greater torque which is about 250 Nm.
Along with an outstanding performance, the very dynamic sedan will come with standard gadgets and safety features like airbags, ABS, EBD, etc. Features like a tachometer, 2 trip meters and ORVM indicator makes it a more favourable choice. Remote boot and remote fuel filter would make it a sedan built with a modern mindset. It also features an Air conditioner with climate control. The new mid-sized sedan is expected to arrive with at least six variants.
Skoda Lauretta is expected to be available in five colour variants namely Deep Black, Candy White, Flash Red, Brilliant Silver and Cappuccino Beige. The new mid-sized sedan is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs. 7 lacs for its base petrol variant. However the overall price range of Skoda Lauretta is expected to be Rs. 7 lacs to Rs. 9 lacs. The sedan by Skoda can be seen competing with names like Maruti Suzuki SX4, Hyundai Verna Fluidic and Volkswagen Vento .It will be interesting to see the response it gets from the Indian buyers, who are facing the crunch of price rise and economic slowdown.
