Second generation Honda Amaze launched in India at Rs 5.59 lakhs

The second generation Honda Amaze has been launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 5.59 lakhs (All-India ex-showroom). There's 12 variants, six colour options and with automatic options for both diesel and petrol power.

This second generation Amaze gets a revised design in terms of a new face which is now in line with the likes of the latest generation Civic and Accord sedans. In profile, the bigger hood give the cars a more defined shape as compared to its predecessor while at the rear there are new tail lamps to add to the looks.

Inside, the Amaze’s cabin has now been copied from the likes of the Jazz, BR-V and the City. The top-of-the-line VX variants get climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio control, all four power windows, driver’s seat height adjustment, rear arm rest and a boot space of 420-litres. All variants of the Amaze get dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.

For the first time, the Amaze will be offered with a diesel CVT option. This is the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit from the previous car that produces 100bhp/200Nm in the MT variants and 80bhp/160Nm in the CVT powered models. The Amaze’s petrol models get the 1.2-litre four-cylinder unit producing 87bhp/109Nm and is offered with a five-speed manual or a CVT.

The Amaze is Honda’s rival for the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo and the Hyundai Xcent.
