Royal Enfield has more of a cult following than a fan following in India. The country’s oldest and largest manufacturer of cruiser motorcycles has announced a change in the warranty it provides for its motorcycles, which is bound to strike the customer’s delight. Royal Enfield will now be providing warranty service for 20,000 kilometers or 2 years, whichever occur earlier, from the date of sale. The Chennai-based motorcycle company has taken the agenda of customer satisfaction seriously and is willing to go an extra mile to satisfy their clients.

Earlier, Royal Enfield warranty service used to make its customers shell out money after 10000 km or a year, whichever came early. However, the new deal will only be applicable to those who have purchased their bike after 01 January, 2015. Royal Enfield has always been a little stingy when it came to warranties and has never offered extension of warranty unlike its counterparts, and even now they do not plan on giving the option of an extended warranty to their customers. This new warranty upgrade will delight many customers in dealing with small issues on this expensive toy. Royal Enfield bikes are prone to many issues on Indian roads. The new longer warranty may prove instrumental in increasing the faith among the potential customers of the auto maker. The extended warranty will be standard on all 350 cc, 500 cc and 535 cc models, present in the sales chart of the company.

In what it seems, is a move to turn their business around, they changed their logo some months ago and recently got themselves a new President to run the company. All these efforts will be perceived to increase the reliability that is lacking in these cult motorcycles. Royal Enfield “Bullets” and cruisers in India are associated with masculinity and style quotient owing to the legacy and brand name. Founded in the year 1893, the Bullet from the house of Royal Enfield became famous for being used by the Indian Army and the police forces extensively.

The extended warranty will bring a smile on the faces of those who wish to own an Enfield, which is not easy in India due to long waiting periods. This could also help the company in boosting their sales and competing with new entrants offering cruisers and better riding comfort. It also could help in increasing its exports as Royal Enfield motorcycles are very popular for their retro styling.
