Royal Enfield in an attempt to gain a stronger presence in the Indian market has reportedly been working on a 500cc variant of its popular model Bullet Electra. This would offer potential customers more option to choose from rather than the conventional 350cc variant. The bike could be powered by 499cc single cylinder, four stroke, air cooled engine carried from the Bullet 500. The engine comes mated to 5-speed transmission that generates about 25bhp of power at 5100rpm and 40.9Nm of torque at 3800 rpm.

Major design upgrades are not expected as on now on the upcoming Royal Enfield Electra 500 and it may be limited to addition of more colour options. The bike could also carry 130mm fork suspension on front and twin gas charged shock absorbers for the rear. For braking, the front gets 280 mm disc brake, while the rear gets 153mm drum brakes. The pricing and more details on the bike is not available for now. It is anticipated that the bike may be priced around Rs 1.5 lakh and maybe launched after the Himalayan.
