In the era of cut throat competition, automobile companies from around the world are enticing customers with a complete package that includes enhanced exteriors, interiors, comfort, performance and safety. To achieve the same, the Japanese car manufacturer, Honda Motor Corporation is planning to revamp some of its car models to survive the battle.
The Honda Motor Corp., which is known for its small cars, received serious blows by tsunami in Japan and then flooding in Thailand. Adding to the woes, critics slammed the new compact Civic for being orthodox in segments like styling, interiors and driving. As per the report by Autodata Corp., the sales for Civic suffered a nosedive of 13.5% as against the previous year.
Apart from Honda Civic, the Japanese auto maker will revive Accord sedan and 2013 CR-V crossover. In fact, the company has already started giving extra push to its models in terms of driveability and styling. Commenting on the strict fuel-economy norms levied by the government, the Chief Executive of American Honda Motor Co., Tetsuo Iwamura stated, "The competition will continue to intensify on the car side".
Tetsuo Iwamura also commented on negative reviews of Honda Civic saying that "We are trying to pull it ahead". To regain its status, Honda Motor Corp. will unveil the new Accord concept in January 2012 at the North American International Auto Show. Moreover, with rectifications applied to the criticised Honda Civic, the revamp model along with Accord and CR-V will be able to elevate sales.
The Japanese auto maker is also looking forward to bring in three latest continuously variable transmissions (CVT) and six new engines in the upcoming years. In addition, Honda Motor Corp. will open a new plant in Mexico that would start manufacturing the Honda Fit subcompact for Latin America and U.S. during September 2014.
With so many activities taken up by the Honda Company, it is expected that it would be able to regain lost grounds over a period of time.
