      Renault to roll-out five new car models in India

      The French car maker Renault is gearing-up to roll-out five new car models in the Indian market by year 2012. The company is investing Rs 4,500 crore for establishing a manufacturing plant at Oragadam, Chennai with its Japanese partner Nissan. The company is aiming at a figure of 70,000 units over the period of next four to five years. While its Fluence sedan will be rolled-out in the country by May 2011, the Koleos SUV will hit the Indian roads by October 2010.

      In a recent statement given to Business Standard, Renault India - managing director, Marc Nassif said, “On the industrial side, our plan to invest Rs 4,500 crore before 2015 is clear, with the Japanese partner Nissan, at Oragadam, near Chennai for setting up a manufacturing unit with a capacity of 400,000 vehicles a year. First new  car model from Renault for India will be Fluence, by mid-2011, is on track. India has confirmed with Brazil and Russia as a top priority for Renault expansion.”

      Moreover, the company is planning to cover over 80 per cent of the car buying geography in the country and is all set to open about 10 new dealerships in India by mid-2011. The company will be mainly focusing on mid and upper middle class buyers.
