      Renault Plans Auto Component Exports from India

      Renault has recently opened a new international logistics facility in Pune in India. The new facility is an integrated part of Renault's global supply chain network and is spread over 40,000 sq. ft. area. The French auto giant aims to export about Rs 1350 crores worth finished auto components to its manufacturing operations around the world. This Pune facility aims to play a key role in facilitating Renault's development of its models around the world.

      "We are targeting exports of about Rs 1,350 crore in finished components to our manufacturing operations around the world, by 2009," Renault India Country General Manager & Managing Director Silvain Bilaine said in a statement.

      ‘We are looking forward to working with Indian manufacturers to develop components for Renault vehicles manufactured around the world,’ added Jean-Louis Fournier, Renault’s Senior Manager – Logistics.

      Renault has already signed a joint venture with Mahindra and Mahindra in India to produce and distribute its model Logan in the country. The company also has long terms plans to stabilise and enhance is presence in India. It also has a design centre in Mumbai called Renault Design India. It is also setting up a manufacturing unit in alliance with Japanese car maker, Nissan.

      "The logistics network facility is another milestone in our commitment to the Indian market. We appreciate the fact that India is not only a big market for cars, but also possesses some of the best and smartest minds in a variety of fields such as design, engineering and manufacturing etc," Bilaine added.
