Renault India is all set to enter the growing MPV segment with the much-awaited Lodgy MPV in India. Slated to go on sale in early 2015, the Lodgy MPV has been filmed by a Youtube user Swagat Tushar while the car was on test near Yelagiri hills near Chennai.

Till now, the MPV had been spotted testing under the thick black covers. The latest test mule features a thin camouflage, which shows minor details about the styling changes in the rebadged Dacia Lodgy. On closer look, it is visible that the vehicle gets the prominent Renault’s dose beneath the camouflage on the three slat radiator grille. The company would give some subtle changes to Dacia’s Lodgy to give a more Indian look to it. The company’s design studio in Mumbai is likely to give some chrome finish, new interior and exterior shades.

Based on the Renault Duster’s platform, the Lodgy MPV will be produced at Renault-Nissan Alliance’s Oragadam plant in Chennai. The production of the MPV could begin anytime, while the launch could take place in the first quarter of 2015.

The Renault Lodgy will share its engine lineup with the Duster SUV. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that offers two states of tune- 85PS and 110PS. The MPV is likely to get 85PS engine coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. However, the company might also introduce the 110PS version which is paired to a six-speed manual transmission.
