The French car maker Renault has recalled its luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) Koleos in the Chinese market due to a possible fault in the steering system. The recall will include 1411 units of Koleos SUV and it will come into effect from 26th December 2011. The Koleos is one of the major contributors in the company’s sales in the Chinese market accounting for about 10% of the total sales of Renault China.
In a statement, Mr. Lin Hua, Head at Renault China, said, the recent recall is a preventive measure from the company’s side.
As per a statement issued by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine, the defect could lead the serious problems related to safety of the passengers as it would create problems related to steering operations. The company has said that it is recalling the Koleos for a complete inspection to inspect it thoroughly. The examined vehicles will be returned to the customers after the rectification of the problem.
It is to be mentioned here that the Renault Koleos SUV was recalled by the company about two years back also sue to the similar problems related to steering of the vehicle. The company had recalled about 2136 Koleos SUVs during that recall.
