Renault India has launched a new variant of the Fluence executive sedan in India in order to add more breadth in its diesel portfolio. The new Renault Fluence Diesel E4D is powered by a refined 1.5 litre dCi K9K diesel engine that has the potential to churn out 108 bhp of power at 4000 rpm and peak torque of 240 Nm at fairly low 2000 rpm. It offers class leading fuel efficiency of 20.4 kmpl, according to Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), thus making it the most fuel efficient model in its segment. The performance oriented engine of Fluence makes it the perfect blend of decent fuel economy with mid-range power emissions.

Despite a new diesel engine, Fluence lags behind competitors on the grounds of power as compared to close rivals like Chevrolet Cruze (148 bhp) and Skoda Laura (138 bhp). Along with a large number of positive points, it also has few drawbacks, including the small dealership network of the company. However, the host of features introduced by the car maker in the new top end variant of Fluence will appease the buyers.

In addition to a more powerful engine, the car will also flaunt new features adding to the convenience of passengers. This upgraded model was developed by the company after focusing on the feedback from buyers. The new engine will have retuned fuel injectors and turbochargers with a new oil pump. This engine will produce the least amount of CO2 emissions, making it the best option for eco-friendly individuals who seek a business class sedan.

The new engine of Fluence will feature a 1461 cc K9K 896 diesel engine, which will enable this car to compete with other models of the same segment. The company has used Variable Geometric Turbo (VGT) technology in the car in order to keep the load losses to a minimum, while the Piezo injector ensure optimal spray pattern, which has contributed to the increase in power.

Along with a powerful engine, the car will also have some minor changes inside the cabin. Advancements like leather upholstery, air conditioner vents at rear, dual zone climate control system and rear sun blinds will be provided within the car. Moreover, the audio system of new Fluence will now have 4 speakers with USB, AUX-IN and Bluetooth connectivity options. Along with these updates, the company will also offer features like cruise control, rain sensing wipers, parking sensors and automatic light sensing head lights in the model. Equipped with a host of world class features, the car is expected to be priced at around Rs. 15 lacs.

French automotive giant Renault has also given due emphasis to vehicular and passenger safety. It has included Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), brake assist and Anti Slip Regulation (ASR) in the new Fluence. Apart from these, dual front airbags and side airbags for driver and front passenger, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and load limiters are also present in the model.

Renault India will offer the unique 'Renault Complete Care' to buyers with this car. Those who subscribe to this service package will be entitled to a 4 year or 80,000 km warranty, labour free service at 2,000, 10,000 and 20,000 km and 24/7 Roadside Assistance. Apart from these, they will also enjoy valet service; pick up and drop off service and concierge services provided by Renault. The maintenance services provided by the car maker will be rendered by COTECH technicians, who were trained by it at its French facility.
