Audi India has started production of its Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), the Q7, in the country. The company will manufacture up to 1000 units of the vehicle every year at its Aurangabad plant. Michael Perschke, head of Audi India said, "Local production of the Q7 means Audi India is now building a second Q model locally. That will reduce waiting times for our customers and we will be able to offer a wider range of versions in the market." Audi believes that India is one of the best auto markets in the world and the local production of the Q7 is a part of its long term growth strategy for the country's Auto market.

Huge demands from Indian customers for Audi's various brands including Q3, Q5 and Q7 SUV models has played a significant role in Audi's growth in the country. During the last 10 months, the sale of Audi vehicles increased by 55 per cent to 7,273 units. With the production of Q7, the company will be able to meet its demands on time and hence further increase its sales.

The company is also increasing its dealership network in the country and Audi will have 25 dealerships in India by the end of 2012. In the past few months, the company has opened new showrooms at various places in the country including Navi Mumbai, Kanpur, Goa, Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and Bhopal. With new dealership networks even in tier-2 cities, the company looks forward to reach a larger section of people.
