      Porsche unveils Cayman and Boxster as GTS models

      German car-maker Porsche has unveiled its decade old speedsters named Cayman and Boxster in an all new GTS variant. The GTS badge can only be carried by vehicles that comply to specific standard of uniqueness and performance. In past, cars like 904 Carrera GTS, 924 GTS, 928 GTS and Cayenne GTS from the Porsche stable have carried this GTS badge owing to their capabilities on the race track.

      Both the newly unveiled GTS variants are stated to be based on their earlier 'S' model counterparts. The Porsche Boxster GTS and Porsche Cayman GTS get a 3.4-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine that generates about additional 15 Hp as compared to its older counterpart. The Boxster GTS generates about 330 Hp, whereas the Cayman GTS generates about an impressive 340 hp. Sport Chrono package from Porsche comes as a standard feature with 6-speed manual or the optional 7-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission. The new GTS versions have been designed and developed to deliver maximum driving pleasure. Put the Cayman GTS to test on a race track and the car literally flies to attain astonishing top speed of around 177 Mph! Whereas, the Boxster GTS is capable of attaining mind-boggling speeds to up to 174 Mph.

      Press a button and the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) technology installed in both the cars allows you to enjoy a comfortable or sportier ride setting. The interiors are also fairly impressive with the center console, headliner, inserts on the standard Sport Seats Plus and Alcantara wrapped steering wheel. To deliver a race track driver feel, the cars get GTS imprints on the tachometer face and headrests.

      On the exterior front, Porsche Boxster GTS and Porsche Cayman GTS get a new badge along with Bi-XenonTM headlights that has been blacked out, sporty exhaust system with black tailpipes, 20-inch wheels as seen in the Carrera S line and Dynamic Light System (PDLS). Both the cars are anticipated to be launched sometime during summer. As per company's press release, the Boxster GTS shall be offered from $73,500 and the Cayman GTS shall be priced from $75,200. the prices do not include destination charges of $995.
