The two-wheeler company made inroads in India through its flagship Vespa scooter, which was marketed as premium product. In the recent past, Piaggio upped the ante by launching a disc brake variant named the Vespa VX. Reports suggest that the upcoming model of Vespa shall bear distinctive changes in its exterior appearance apart from minor tweaks made in the engine. The Vespa S shall be seen with a different set of headlights as opposed to the round ones found in the current generation. The new shaped headlights of the upcoming model of Piaggio are rumoured to be inspired from 1970s styling of square shaped lights.

Besides this, the length of the mudguard of Vespa S has been trimmed to give a sporty look to the soon to be launched scooter. The other expected change to brought by the company is the addition of a black coloured 5-spoke alloy wheel. As far as aesthetics are concerned, sources claim that the company has kept the look of Vespa S similar to the previous models. However, a minor change is foreseen in the seat design of the upcoming model. Furthermore, the cluster panel will be redesigned but its retro charm is expected to be retained through the inclusion of analogue speedometer, digital clock and fuel gauge.

According to industry experts, Piaggio might offer an improved engine in Vespa S model. Notably, the recently launched VX version was provided with much needed upgrades. As of now, Vespa VX is provided with a 125 cc 3-valve engine that generates a peak output of 10 bhp. This engine is mated to a CVT transmission system and is given away on a monocoque steel body, which is a unique feature of the new scooter by Piaggio.

Piaggio has entered the Indian market for the second time in and till now it has achieved somewhat satisfactory results. The company has aimed to target the younger masses who are expected to like the unique and distinctive styling of Vespa. It is said that the company might launch the Vespa S in the upcoming festive season in order to lure buyers. The premium pricing strategy is likely to be retained by the Italian company on its upcoming model.
