In a bid to prevent the recurrence of the chaos witnessed during the 10th edition of the Delhi International Auto Expo, the organizers of the expo have limited the entry to 1,00,000 visitors a day during this edition. The decision was taken considering the expectations of a huge number of visitors coming to the Delhi auto expo 2012. Last year, over 12 lakh visitors came to the show during the 10 days of the event. The limit for the general visitors will be at 70,000 a day, while the remaining 30,000 will be reserved for over 1500 exhibitors, will be coming from 24 countries across the globe.

The organizers are trying to make it a smaller show this time around as compared to the previous occasion. The exhibition area will be reduced to 1.15 lakh square meters as compared to the area of 1.25 lakh sq meter in 2010. With this area, the Delhi International Auto Expo will become the second largest auto show, only second to the Shanghai Motor Show.

Speaking on the matter, Mr. Rajive Kaul, said, "There is a limit to the infrastructure that can accommodate the exhibitors and visitors." He added, "So we have decided to restrict the number to manage the show effectively."

According to director general of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Vishnu Mathur, "While the sentiment in the Indian auto market has been impacted by a series of interest rate and fuel price hike, the mood is upbeat among all automakers."

However, the number of new launches will be almost double at 60 models as compared to the previous edition of the show.
