Honda Activa has been the best seller in the Indian market after Kinetic in the gearless two-wheeler segment. The company is having a tough time meeting demand for the scooter as its bookings have reached all time high and Honda struggles to meet the demand. The waiting period for Honda Activa is currently anywhere between three to four months in various parts of the country.

Honda has a dedicated assembly line for Activa and is also planning to set up a new plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan that is expected to become operational from mid-2011. The company has already increased Activa’s production by around 25 per cent to 57,800units during the April-August 2010 period compared to the same period last year.

Honda Activa continues to dominate the segment with its striking features like having 15 percent more fuel efficiency than its earlier model, anti-theft key-shutter, and ‘Combi Brake’ system that is a combined braking system for both wheels. Honda Activa is powered by 109cc engine capable of producing 8bhp pf maximum power @7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 0.9 Kg-m @5500 rpm.

So this festive season, Honda Activa bikes will remain conspicuously unavailable for delivery unless it has already been booked in summers.
