      Nissan seems to upping the ante in the Indian car market since the launch of its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) named Terrano is fast approaching. The company has even launched the official website of the car well in advance in order to generate the interest of buyers in pre-booking the vehicle. It must be said that the Japan based car maker has learnt the lessons well in the art of promoting its product through various advertising campaigns, which are aimed towards targeting mass audiences.

      On the website, a dedicated section is given for pre-booking Terrano and all one needs to do is just fill in the personal details like name, email address, mobile number and state. Also the website carries the information of the dealers wherein Terrano will be available, respective of the states. As seen in the website, a brochure is also available that contains all the information about the specifications and features of the car and net users can download it from the Internet. Apart from it, the company has also launched a promotional campaign on social networking websites likes Facebook and Twitter.

      Nissan has officially unveiled Terrano and as told by the company, the car will be available in diesel and petrol variants. In case of petrol engine, it will have a 1.6-litre MPFI engine that has the ability to generate 102 bhp of power alongside 145 Nm of peak torque. While the diesel variant of the car shall have a 1.5-litre K9K DCi engine that will be offered in different trim levels having power outputs of 83 bhp and 108 bhp. The different trim levels comprises XE, XL, XL(Plus), XV and XV (Premium). Initially the car will be provided with 5-speed manual transmission and doubts still remain over the availability of an automatic transmission. The car will be offered in 6 different colours, namely pearl white, blade silver, sapphire black, sterling grey, bronze grey and fire red.

      As far the appearance of Terrano is concerned, Nissan has effectively managed to distinctively design its car from the current generation model of Renault Duster. The upcoming compact SUV of Nissan will be provided with some major changes at the exteriors as well as interiors as opposed to the Duster. To name a few, Terrano is provided with a restructured front fascia having newly designed front bumper that carries the big chrome grille, beside the elongated set of headlights.

      However, Nissan has not supplied any information regarding the price of Terrano but it has officially confirmed that the price will be under Rs. 10 lakh. Auto experts are betting that the car might be a bit costlier than its sibling Renault Duster, which carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.99 lakh for the base variant. At present, the company has maintained silence regarding the launch date of Terrano and is likely that the car might be make inroads in India any time during the upcoming festive season.

      Once Nissan launches Terrano in the Indian car market, the compact SUV segment will get all more challenging for auto makers like Renault, Ford and Mahindra & Mahindra. In current terms, Renault Duster is facing mounting competition from Ford EcoSport and now with after the arrival of Terrano, things might even be more complicated in the respective segment. Industry experts are eagerly waiting to the see the outcome of rivalry between Terrano and its sibling Duster.
