Italian automaker Fiat has been working on the next-gen Punto for a while now. Recently, sources have managed to capture interior images of test mule, thereby revealing features and details that can be expected on the new model. The new model is expect to debut in international market sometime in 2017, while FCA India has not announced on any plans for the Indian market yet.
Internationally, the new Fiat Punto is expected to be offered with three petrol engine options – 1.4-litre GSE (Global Small Engine), 1.6-litre E-Torq and a 1.8-litre engine option. The GSE version is expected to generate about 98bhp and 140Nm of torque, this could be the one to be offered in the Indian market as well. Based on what can be seen, the vehicle is likely to get 6-speed tiptronic automatic transmission with paddle shifter on 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
Inside, the upcoming model also gets a button on the centre console with ‘City’ mode. It also comes with engine stop/start system, manual HVAC system, ESP and automatic climate control on high-end models. More details about the exterior could not be seen as the test mule had been heavily camouflaged.
