While the Indian auto market has been tagged as one of the fastest growing markets for SUVs, Volkswagen India, the Indian arm of the German auto giant, is venturing the launch of its globally hot selling off-roader, the new Volkswagen Touareg. The mid-size crossover SUV will mark its Indian debut at a higher price tag of Rs. 58.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). In comparison to its erstwhile model, the new Touareg embodies lengthier proportions with lightweight aerodynamics.
The sturdy and youthful Touareg has been loaded with a power packed 3.0L six-cylinder diesel powertrain outpouring a peak power of 236 bhp along with a peak torque of 56.08kg. The diesel engine operates in tandem with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Volkswagen has fabricated the SUV with a wholesome package of the most contemporary features such as the keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, Bluetooth audio system, fully-powered seats with memory, a touch-screen audio system also disguising as a screen for the reverse camera and a dual-zone climate control system. Moreover, the Touareg is furnished with switches in the boot to both lower rear suspension for comfortable loading and the automatic Bi-Xenon headlights with cornering lights will come as a standard feature.
Volkswagen Touareg, the five-seater SUV reflects the brand’s unmatched sensitivity towards safety with features installed such as the airbags for all the occupants and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Moreover, the car maker will be offering the SUV with an all-wheel-drive system ensuring swift ride even on off-road journeys.
The launch of the premium SUV, Volkswagen Touareg will render head on rivalry to the arch competitors and the segment leaders, Mercedes-Benz ML Class and BMW X5.
