      New Toyota Fortuner likely to be launched late in 2016

      The new Toyota Fortuner has been recently launched in Australian market and is available in three trims - GX, GXL and Crusad. In India, apart from the 2.7-litre petrol engine, the new Fortuner shall be launched late next year in two new engine options - 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre GD diesel. The vehicle would be offered in two transmission options – six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic option.

      As seen in the Australia spec model, based on variants the new Fortuner gets features like 17-inches alloys with all-terrain tyres, projector halogen headlamps and body coloured/Chrome door handles. The SUV vehicle also sports fog lamps and roof rails. Inside, the vehicle gets 4.2-inch multi-function coloured display, keyless smart entry and start, intelligent manual transmission (iMT), downhill assist control, and paddle shifters. The top end trim gets eight-way electrically adjustable driver seat, LED DRLs, 18-inches alloy wheels, automatic LED projector headlamps with auto-levelling feature, woodgrian cabin trims and tailgate with memory function.

      In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 1,833mm in height, 4,795mm in length, wheelbase of 2,745mm, width of about 1,855mm and ground clearance of 225mm. Internationally it has been launched at starting price of AUD 47,990 (equivalent to INR 22.73 lakh), in India it could be offered around Rs 25Lakh bracket.
