Toyota India displayed the refurbished Corolla Altis premium saloon at the 12th Edition of Auto Expo held in Greater Noida last month. After putting the revivified saloon at display, the car maker is now gearing up to launch new Corolla in India. Dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the new Corolla Altis at a token amount of Rs. 50,000. It is expected that the vehicle might be launched by the end of this month.
Among the new additions made to the premium sedan, a string of new features like push button start, keyless entry, rain sensing wipers, paddle shifters and LED head lamps are included. Other than the addition of these features, few cosmetic changes can also be seen on the new Corolla Altisresulting in improved and more compelling outer appearance.
Wheelbase of new Corolla has been increased by 100 mm offering an enhanced headroom and legroom to the passengers. Overall length has also been extended to 2700mm which implies that the sedan will offer even bigger cabin space. Inside the cabin a 7-inch touch screen will also be equipped. Besides this, Toyota has also made modifications to proffer improved drivability to the customers. Mechanically there will be no changes; the sedan will be available with same set of engines as in its outgoing model. A 1.8 litre petrol engine pumping out 138 PS and a 1.4 litre diesel motor churning out 87 PS will be put on offer. Engines will be harmonized to a six speed manual transmission while a seven speed automatic transmission will also be available on petrol version only. The sedan will give stiff competition to other cars in its segment like Renault Fluence, Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and Skoda Octavia.
